Why I Love BIG4 (and you will too!)

07th May 2017

Recently my family and I decided to embark on a much needed family holiday. Just to stress how important this trip was, I should point out that the last time my partner and I took time off work together was when our son was born (he’s almost five now!). The pressure of choosing a holiday destination and accommodation that met both our ideas of a decent holiday, plus the needs of our three children, almost threatened to derail the entire idea before it even had a chance to take off. He would prefer to pitch a tent close to somewhere he could cast a fishing line and I wanted a location that would keep the kids entertained during the day and a warm, comfy bed to enjoy a good book of an evening. Thankfully, we were both able to get our way (minus the tent this time), and our trip was everything all five of us had hoped for.

Here’s why I love BIG4 (and why you will too!)...

Planning the trip is easy
If, like me, you do not have an exact destination in mind then BIG4.com.au makes it so easy to research, plan and design for the perfect holiday for you. The website is easy to navigate, and while we were looking for family accommodation this time, we were able to see some great options for groups and couples as well. We also found the BIG4 Holiday Parks Guide a helpful tool, especially if you are on the the road for a long time, caravanning or roadtripping.

There is something for everyone
It’s not just the grown-ups who have different ideas about holidays, but the kids as well. With three children aged between ten and four (there they are below...), finding family activities that keep everyone entertained can be challenging. However, different facilities are available within each BIG4 Park and during our trip, while Dad tried to hook a fish from the nearby beaches and rivers, the kids and I joined in craft activities, challenged each other to a round of mini golf and splashed around in the water park. Later, the five of us reunited for a bounce on the jumping pillow and a warm spa before dinner.  I noticed that lots of BIG4 parks also have restaurants, coffee gym facilities, canoeing, bike hire and even massages!

Community Spirit
BIG4 parks employ local people from regions right across Australia and visitors are a huge boost to these communities. Staff at BIG4 Parks offer a wealth of knowledge when it comes to choosing places to eat, attractions to visit and the best places to catch fish.  During our trip, we also had the benefit of meeting new people in the form of fellow guests who were able to share their experiences of the area and tips they had on travelling with kids. Somehow, I cannot imagine having the opportunity to chat to such lovely people in a high rise hotel environment…and the kids had a great time running around with some new friends.

BIG4 Member Benefits
There are some great deals and member only offers to be found by joining the BIG4 Loyalty Club. Not only does becoming a member provide you with a discount on sites and accommodation at all BIG4 Parks across the country but there are some great deals to be found at local and national eateries, services, attractions and shopping outlets. Each stay at BIG4 earns you credit towards Gold member status- where the benefits are even more rewarding. We certainly found the BIG4 loyalty club well worth joining. You can join the club now by clicking here.

BIG4 is definitely on the agenda for our next trip and, knowing how easy it all is, we will definitely be planning more frequent ‘weekenders’ in the future. Who knows, maybe one of them might even be kid free?!
